    This detailed map is dominated by the large Pennington Flash, with Bickershaw Colliery and Plank Lane to the north, the Pennington Junctions to the south.

    Several railways cross the map, where features include Plank Lane station, Pennington station, tramways, Etherstone Mill, Etherstone Hall Farm, Leeds & Liverpool Canal, Westleigh Lodge, Bradshaw Leach Farm, Mossley Hall, St Andrew's Mission Church, Bickershaw Colliery, etc.

    The map links up with sheets 102.02 Westleigh to the north, 102.05 Byrom Hall to the west, 102.07 Leigh South to the east and 102.10 Lowton st Mary's to the south.
