Here is information about Sheet 152:
This One Inch to the Mile map covers the central area of Shropshire around Shrewsbury. Coverage stretches from Pontesbury eastward to Wellington and Coalbrookdale, and from Bicton and Shrewsbury southward to Much Wenlock and Church Preen. Near the centre of the map is Bomere Pool, which features in one of Mary Webb's novels, the author living nearby at Lyth Hill. Many railways fan out from Shrewsbury, including here the Severn Valley line, the Minsterley Branch, and the Shropshire & Montgomery (or 'Old Potts') Railway. The River Severn runs through the map, and to the south the foothills of the Stretton Hills and Wenlock Edge are appearing. On the reverse is an extract from Shropshire Sheet 49.04, showing Acton Burnell in more detail, complete with a directory.
It is not possible to list the many hamlets, farmsteads and other topographical features shown on these maps. However, you may find it useful if we list the towns and principal villages or church parishes that are included on this map. Links are given for those for which detailed large-scale maps are also available.
