Here is information about Sheet 4:
We have published two versions of this map, showing how the area developed across the years. The 1898 version is colour printed.
Both maps cover the same area, stretching from Holy Island southward to Beadnell Bay, and westward to Wooler. They also includes the Farne Islands, Seahouses, Bamburgh and Chillingham. On the reverse of the 1863 map is a detailed large scale map of Holy Island village, together with a directory; on the reverse of the 1898 version is a map of Seahouses, including part of North Sunderland.
It is not possible to list the many hamlets, farmsteads and other topographical features shown on these maps. However, you may find it useful if we list the towns and principal villages or church parishes that are included on this map. Links are given for those for which detailed large-scale maps are also available.
