London Subscription

Maps of London

  • We have offered a London Subscription since the 1980s and this has helped us develop the series into a huge selection of London and Middlesex maps, as well as several Surrey, Kent and Essex maps that cover areas now in Greater London. Some of those who have subscribed from the 1980s and 90s have built up large collections of our maps in this way!
  • Over the past two years we have concentrated on the large scale maps, taken from the original OS 1:1056 or 'Five foot' plans from the 1860s and '70s. Since 2023 we have published 40 of these, to add to those already available, and there is still much to be done. We are therefore continuing with a further subscription, for 10 new maps for London commencing with new titles to be published in February 2026. This subscription costs £ 33.00 for ten maps, postage free, a substantial saving on the normal price. We intend to complete this group, which will concentrate on maps for Bermondsey, Rotherhithe and Deptford, in June.
  • We will publish a second group between August and December in 2026 - areas yet to be decided - and so we welcome subscriptions to the full year's programme of 20 London maps.
  • The maps will be taken from the early Five foot or 1:1056 plans, published in the early 1870s, which we reduce in scale to 1:1760 or a Yard to the Mile. Each map also includes a later edition of the map on the reverse, together with an introduction to the history of the area.
  • Note that this subscription is essentially for the new maps, not those already available or published. For those maps for the area already published, visit the relevant London page.

    The first maps in this subscription are due for publication on February 10th (but they are sent to subscribers about 10 days earlier). We intend to complete the first group in June, and to publish a second group in August-December 2026. This special offer is for UK customers only.
