Haddingtonshire is one of Scotland's historic counties. The name was changed to East Lothian in 1921. It was abolished as
a county in 1975 but since 1996 has been a unitary authority.

Musselburgh was transferred from Midlothian to East Lothian in 1975:
Most maps in the Godfrey Edition are taken from the 25 inch to the mile map and reduced to about 15 inches to the mile.
